Information

We are pleased to announce the upcoming International Symposium on Water Relations in Plants, to be held in Pamplona in February 2026, organized by the Water Relations Group. This international event will bring together scientists, early-career researchers, industry professionals, and policy makers from around the world to explore the latest advances in plant water relations and their relevance in addressing today’s environmental and agricultural challenges.

The symposium will be structured around six thematic sessions:

  1. Physiological and molecular mechanisms of water relations
  2. Water relations in natural systems: from grasslands to forests
  3. Water relations in agriculturally important species
  4. New methodologies and technologies for monitoring plant water relations
  5. Water relations in the context of global change
  6. Integrated water management in agricultural and forest systems
These sessions will provide a comprehensive and multidisciplinary overview of how plants interact with water across different biological scales and ecosystems—from molecular mechanisms to ecosystem-level processes, and from natural environments to managed agricultural systems. The program will also highlight cutting-edge tools and technologies for monitoring plant water status, and explore integrated approaches to water management in the face of climate change.

In addition to the scientific program, the symposium will feature the active participation of companies, stakeholders, and policy makers, fostering dialogue between research, innovation, and policy. This will create valuable opportunities for collaboration, knowledge transfer, and the development of practical solutions to real-world challenges in agriculture, forestry, and environmental sustainability.

Key Features of the Symposium:

  • Thematic Sessions focused on cutting-edge topics in plant water relations.
  • Invited Speaker: A leading expert from the Spanish or Portuguese-speaking scientific community.
  • Scientific Meme Contest: A creative and engaging way to communicate science—participants will vote during the event.
  • Flash Talks: Short presentations depending on the number of poster submissions.
  • Special Issue: Selected contributions may be invited for publication in a special journal issue.
We look forward to welcoming participants from across the globe to Pamplona for a dynamic and inspiring event that will advance the science and application of plant water relations.
